Q: How often do you bake?
A: Every week! Each Friday morning I whip up a batch of dough at 8am, spend 1-2 hours braiding in the afternoon, bake, and then post usually around 3pm CST. I spend most of the week sketching and planning out my design for Friday.

Q: You should really make one in the shape of [something]. Will you do that this week?
A: I actually maintain a long list of ideas and have a pretty specific style that I’m going for. I love suggestions but don’t get upset if I never make yours. Also, I try not to make challahs in shapes that I see other people doing (menorahs, hearts, torahs, rainbow).

Q: Will you make me a special challah and ship it to me?
A: Maybe…but I’ll be honest, it’ll cost ya. Send me a DM and we can discuss. I have done commissioned pieces before, they’re really fun!

Q: You should really make a book! Anything like that in the works?
A: YEP! I’ve got it all planned out, coming soon! The working title is “I’m Not Braiding…YOU’RE Braiding!”

Q: What’s your recipe for dough?
A: It’ll be in the book, be sure to order a copy! If you ask nicely, I might share before.

Q: What kind of flour do you use?
A: I use only all-purpose flour from the King Arthur Baking Company. Their flours are unbleached, non-bromated, and incredibly consistent. Their AP flour has an 11.7% protein content and that’s really important in making the designs that I do. They’re also employee-owned and are very supportive of the LGBTQ community, and I consider myself an ally.

Q: Do you ever make gluten-free challah?
A: Nope! Sorry GF-ers, but the gluten is necessary to make the designs. When you see those silicone challah molds online, those are for making GF challah because you can’t braid dough that doesn’t have gluten, sorry.

Q: Do you ever make vegan challah?
A: I haven’t yet but I’m planning on it. There is no dairy in my recipe already, only eggs. I’ve worked with aquafaba before as an egg replacement, so I’m not afraid to try. I just haven’t had a chance yet.
